Lazy Turtle Dive Alor is a fully equipped dive center offering divers high quality diving in small groups on our custom built dive boat, Naughty Nudi. Our dive team is highly experienced and is led by our head dive instructor, Nico, who’s been working in the dive industry for over 15 years. With this depth of knowledge and experience we guarantee your dive trip will bring you directly to the wonders of Alor’s underwater world.

Alor is situated within an area of marine diversity known as the Coral Triangle. Combine this with strong tidal currents and upwellings bringing cold water and nutrients from the depths of the Alor-Pantar strait and the result is pristine coral reefs that are rich with diverse marine life offering world class diving.  Sites include extensive hard and soft coral reefs, macro, walls, slopes, caves, pinnacles and jetties.  These strong, unpredictable currents mean that only experienced divers will really be able to make the most of the 70+ diverse dive sites on our doorstep.  We don't set a limit on the number of dives required to dive with us, but we do expect divers to be sufficiently proficient in their buoyancy skills to avoid damaging our beautiful corals.

 

Accommodation

In 2024 we took over the running of Marangki Bungalows on Kepa Island.  4 comfortable traditional wooden bungalows with thatched roofs, solar lighting and views across the channel where dolphins frequently play, allow you to retreat completely from the daily grind.  If 24/7 electricity is a must, or a more luxurious "city style" of accommodation appeals, we still work with some other local Alorese businesses to meet your accommodation preferences.

 

Community Support

In 2021 LTD introduced its Divemaster internship program.  We are delighted that our first trainee successfully found employment with one of the other local dive centres, allowing him to expand his knowledge and skills as part of a larger team. A second candidate from the local community is currently receiving training from us.   As well as improving his diving skills and knowledge of the local dive sites he is learning about all aspects of dive centre work from maintenance and boat crewing to recycling and guest relations.  You will likely meet our DMT during your stay.  We also contribute to local conservation efforts, community religious events and the insanely popular and fiercely contested local football tournament.
